Name That Motel

Although the facade has been modified, this motel is still in operation in Hot Springs.
Can you name it?

Ohhh, I know it, I just don't know the current name. It's on the corner of Central and another major thoroughfare, Central would be to the right in the photo. The building in the extreme right of the photo is the back portion of a church and next to it would be that huge mosaic of Jesus facing Central, which I always found a little creepy. A white plaster wall was built along Central Ave side of the parking lot when the motel put in the swimming pool in the early 1950s. The wall originally had little dip cut-outs in it, but now they are filled in and have carriage lights mounted in them. I spent the first night of my honeymoon here in 1982 as a quick stop before continuing on to Eureka Springs. It was pretty cheesy place in 1982. Did I guess the right place???

I can't remember, but I think my dad and I stayed there during a United Methodist annual conference in the mid-80s.

You likely did, Kyle, as it is next door to the UMC in Hot Springs. Yes, Speck, you've nailed it with all but the name (and I'm impressed with your attention to detail!) Commenteer via e-mail, Janine (neighbor and very good friend) knew the answer, too.

This, my friends, is the Howard Johnson motel on the corner of Grand and Central Avenues, and the two-tone-blue Impala we can see is right about where the pool sits today.
